Upon graduation in 1986 from Northeastern University School of Law, I began practicing in the commercial litigation department at Bingham McCutchen (which was then Bingham, Dana & Gould). At Bingham, I worked on a variety of matters which included protection of proprietary potato plants, theft of artificial diamond technology, disputes among the professional sports teams that shared ownership of a cable television station, an acrimonious breakup of an accounting firm, and numerous arbitrations under the state lemon law statutes.

In 1994, I joined Ruberto, Israel & Weiner where I continued my commercial litigation practice, handling a diverse range of disputes including fiduciary duty and partnership matters, copyright, trade secret and trademark infringement actions, securities and investment disputes, wrongful termination and discrimination claims, breach of commercial contracts, and successful defense of a half billion dollar power plant dispute.

In addition, I, together with two others, started RIW’s Employment Law Practice which provided a full range of employment services including management training, compliance audits and counseling, preparation of handbooks, drafting and review of employment contracts, and termination advice and preparation of severance agreements.

While at RIW, I also had the opportunity to advise small businesses, including many startups, on a wide variety of matters including employment compliance, corporate formation, contracts and licensing, and protection of intellectual property. In particular, I focused on ensuring that these companies were legally sound and compliant, whether it be to protect the owners as their businesses moved forward or to ensure that the companies would survive scrutiny by potential investors.

In 2012, I started my own practice where I am focusing almost exclusively on advising small businesses, as described above, since this has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my law practice over the years. I understand the needs of emerging companies for cost-effective, sound, efficient and effective legal services. I thoroughly enjoy calling upon my experience as a litigator, employment lawyer and small business advisor to work with a company that is on the verge of something greater.
